Our Southend campus is located at Southend-on-Sea, east of central London, on the south east coast.
This campus offers courses from four departments of the university and it is also home to the Business Hub, a specialist resource for companies of all sizes, which aims to foster and promote economic sustainability.
The courses that are offered in Southend campus stem from:
- The Essex Business School
- The School of Health and Human Sciences
- East 15 Acting School
- The Centre for Psychoanalytic Studies
In particular, it is home to courses such as nursing, physiotherapy, oral health, social work, mental health nursing, sports therapy, speech and language therapy.
Our Southend Campus opened in 2007 and it has much to offer to its current and new students, including its new and contemporary facilities:
- The Gateway Building:
Modern lecture rooms and studios with panoramic sea views. Offers state-of-the-art teaching and learning environments
- The Forum:
A modern, brand new lecture theatre building, with two floors of library resources, excellent teaching rooms and an entire floor dedicated to students. On the second floor there is the Learning Hub, which allows students to study in groups or individually and it is accessible 24 hours a day.
- The University Square
An accommodation complex. With 561 rooms, it includes many green and sustainable features. It offers high-quality accommodation to the students, who can join themselves in the newly up-dated Evolve gym and sign up to lessons to learn a foreign language like German, French or Spanish!
- The Clifftown Theatre and Studios
The space for the rehearsals and performances of our East 15 Acting School students. The original features of the church are maintained to give a beautiful environment to study and perform.
- Students’ Union
Offers a relaxing, home from home experience and a wealth of advice and guidance. The team also organise a varied calendar of free sport through our Just Play programme.

The Students’ Union of the Southend Campus has its own website (http://www.essexstudent.com/southend/) and also they have listed the societies which the students can join in:
If there is nothing there that takes your interest, remember it is never too late to start your own society! Also, there are activities designed by students which include sports such as tennis, swimming, table tennis, yoga, volleyball and football. ‘’Just Play’’ games operate within and out of the campus.
